The Verdigris heir and a master craftsman in his own right — ambitious, impatient, and convinced the family's caution is leaving money on the table. Where his father guards and studies, Isidore wants to expand. This year the Metals Guild handed him its Guild-Master seat on the Autumn Council, which is the first time a Verdigris has voted on anything that governs the city.
In the Guild
A genuinely skilled mirror-maker who chafes at the elder Verdigris's conservatism and pushes to grow the operation and widen its clientele. That impatience is what the guild's younger houses were looking for. They had spent a season watching Guildmaster Vincenzo Copper take the long view of a city that was running out of time, and they voted the seat away from him and gave it to Isidore. Vincenzo is still Guildmaster; the vote is Isidore's.
On the Council
The newest voice in a chamber that has not welcomed one in years, and the only member who treats the deadlock as a problem to be broken rather than a condition to be managed. He argues for moving first and arguing afterward: sanctioned entry into the fog zone, guild money spent without waiting on the Temple bloc, decisions made at the speed the disappearances are happening.
It reads as courage, and some of it is. But he owes the houses that seated him, he has never held a public office before, and he is unpractised at telling the difference between a chamber he is persuading and one that is letting him spend his credit for it.
