The Signore of Venturia is not a current ruler. It is an old title preserved as an honorary seat on the Autumn Council, a remnant of the era when the di Errante name still meant direct civic authority on Seravalle.
The seat has stood empty for as long as anyone living remembers.
The Empty Seat
Council tradition still accounts for the Signore even though no one sits there. The omission is deliberate: the city has not abolished the office, but neither has it accepted anyone as its rightful holder.
In practice, this keeps an old question alive without forcing the Council to answer it. Is the Signore's seat ceremonial only, or would a legitimate claimant carry real power? Most councillors prefer the question hypothetical.
Why It Matters
The title remains tied to the old di Errante order and to the history that ended at Vallombrosa. Any credible claim to the office would not just add a nameplate to the chamber. It would reopen arguments about inheritance, legitimacy, and whether Venturia ever truly stopped being a city with a lord.
